June TBR // All the Books I want Read

As a fellow reader I have decided to share my anticipated June TBR list. I do have so many books I want to read – but for my reasons and as to not feeling as if I need to rush I am choosing my top 5 books I want to read in June.

Out of 15 here are my top 5 choices I want to read in June:

  • Some Kind of Perfect by Krista and Becca Ritchie
  • The Words by Ashley Jade
  • Daughter of the Blood by Anne Bishop
  • Dance with the Devil (book 3 in the dark-hunter series) by Sherrilyn Kenyon
  • Kiss of the Night (book 4 in the dark-hunter series) by Sherrilyn Kenyon

These are just the ones I want to get to read. If I can read more then omg yes!

Book 1 // Some Kind of Perfect by Krista and Becca Ritchie

I have been reading this series since March and I have been obsessed. I love all the characters. Lily and Lo are my absolute favorite followed by Connor. If you want a series that will have your heart read this one. Book 1 is Addicted to You.

Epilogue Novel of the Addicted/Calloway Sisters series

Falling in love was just the beginning.

The conclusion to the epic 10-book series about the unbreakable strength of family, friendship, and love.

Lily and Lo are back one final time. Childhood best friends and soul mates.

Ryke and Daisy are back one final time. Wild risk takers and flirty adventurers.

Connor and Rose are back one final time. Genius rivals and intellectual teammates.

Ten years of laughter. Of heartache. And love.

*The books in this series have content that is touched and based on addiction/alcohol addiction.

Book 2 // The Words by Ashley Jade

This I have been interested in for a while. Some tropes included are Grumpy/Sunshine, Forced Proximity, Bad Boy, Bully Romance*

From USA Today and Wall Street Journal bestselling author Ashley Jade comes an edgy, enemies-to-lovers standalone romance about mistakes, forgiveness, and second chances.

He was the talented bad boy everyone wanted.
I was the irrelevant geek everyone hated.

He was the sun…drawing all of us in.
I was a black hole…taking up space.

He was destined to be a star.
I was destined to remain an insignificant no one.

Until he made me believe I was special…And then he destroyed me. I never thought I’d see Phoenix Walker again after he broke my heart, but fate had other plans. One tour. Eight weeks. Forty shows. Countless opportunities to make him pay. The world thought he was a God… But I knew the truth.

*TW: Bully Romance- this book has a dark romance element to it. Please proceed with caution if you do not like bully romances.

Book 3 // Daughter of the Blood by Anne Bishop

A fantasy book that I have been looking at reading for years. A dark adult fantasy that intrigues me. I am looking forward to reading!

The Dark Kingdom is preparing itself for the fulfillment of an ancient prophecy–the arrival of a new Queen, a Witch who will wield more power than even the High Lord of Hell himself. But this new ruler is young, and very susceptible to influence and corruption; whoever controls her controls the Darkness. And now, three sworn enemies begin a ruthless game of politics and intrigue, magic and betrayal, and the destiny of an entire world is at stake.

TW: This book gets very dark, please do not read if you do not like dark fantasy

Book 4 // Dance with the Devil by Sherrilyn Kenyon

I have given a challenge to myself and want to read the entire Dark-Hunter series by Sherrilyn Kenyon (you can read about it here) There are over 40 books in the complete series and I am only on book 3. Yeah..it’s going to be an adventure. Book 3 of the series “Dance with the Devil” is the one I currently am reading.

Dark-Hunter: A soulless guardian who stands between mankind and those who would see mankind destroyed. Yeah, right. The only part of that Code of Honor I got was eternity and solitude.

Insanity: A condition many say I suffer from after being alone for so long. But I don’t suffer from my insanity-I enjoy every minute of it.

Trust: I can’t trust anyone…not even myself. The only thing I trust in is my ability to do the wrong thing in any situation and to put a hurt on anyone who gets in my way.

Truth: I endured a lifetime as a Roman slave, and 900 years as an exiled Dark-Hunter. Now I’m tired of enduring. I want the truth about what happened the night I was exiled-I have nothing to lose and everything to gain.

Astrid (Greek, meaning star): An exceptional woman who can see straight to the truth. Brave and strong, she is a point of light in the darkness. She touches me and I tremble. She smiles and my cold heart shatters.

Zarek: They say even the most damned man can be forgiven. I never believed that until the night Astrid opened her door to me and made this feral beast want to be human again. Made me want to love and be loved. But how can an ex-slave whose soul is owned by a Greek goddess ever dream of touching, let alone holding, a fiery star?

Book 5 // Kiss of the Night by Sherrilyn Kenyon

Book 4 in the Dark-Hunter series and part of my book challenge of reading the entire series.

What do you get when you have an immortal Viking warrior no one can remember five minutes after he leaves their presence, and a demon on the run for her life who is being pursued by one seriously pissed-off demigod?

That would be my life.

It started out simple enough. One night I went to save a woman in trouble. The next thing I knew, the doorway to hell had opened and out stepped Daimons- soul-sucking vampires the likes of which I’d never seen before. Led by the son of Apollo, they are out to end the curse that has banished them all to darkness. The only problem with that is they have to kill Cassandra Peters to do it and if she dies, so dies the sun, the earth and all who dwell here. Life’s just a bowl full of cherries, ain’t it?

Brought together by fate, it’s now my job to protect a daughter of the very race I have been hunting for centuries. Neither of us dares to trust the other. But if we don’t find a way to overcome our differences and to bridge thousands of years of animosity, we won’t die alone. We’ll take the entire world with us.

There it is. The final 5 books I want to read for June.

What is on your June TBR?

My Killer Vacation by Tessa Bailey // Book Review

ABOUT THE BOOK

An all-new, spicy murder mystery from Tessa Bailey, New York Times bestselling author of It Happened One Summer…

It was supposed to be a relaxing vacation in sweet, sunny Cape Cod—just me and my beloved brother—but discovering a corpse in our rental house really throws a wrench into our tanning schedule. Now a rude, crude bounty hunter has arrived on the back of his motorcycle to catch the killer and refuses to believe I can be helpful, despite countless hours of true crime podcast listening. Not to mention a fulfilling teaching career of wrangling second graders.

A brash bounty hunter and an energetic elementary schoolteacher: the murder-solving team no one asked for, but thanks to these pesky attempts on my life, we’re stuck together, come hell or high tide.

I’m just here to do a job, not babysit an amateur sleuth. Although…it is becoming less and less of a hardship to have her around. Sure, she’s stubborn, distracting and can’t stay out of harm’s way. She’s also brave and beautiful and reminds me of the home I left behind three years ago. In other words, the painful hunger and protectiveness she is waking up in me is a threat to my peace of mind. Before I sink any deeper into this dangerous attraction, I need to solve this murder and get back on the road. But will fate take her from me before I realize the road has been leading to her all along?

I absolutely loved this book!

Another Tessa Bailey masterpiece – I’m not kidding.

Myles starts off as the distant, moody and grumpy character, not wanting to commit to anything or anyone. Slowly he finds himself falling for Taylor, the second grade teacher that is basically a small ball of sunshine.

I loved the way Myles tried not to care. That is the key word, tried. He just couldn’t help himself fall for the adorable, sunshine teacher – Taylor.

While this book is a short read it was a good one. I loved the dynamics between Myles and Taylor. Grumpy vs sunshine. An absolute favorite trope of mine. I loved how slowly and then how fast he fell for Taylor. As well as how quickly Taylor fell for Myles.

I loved the murder mystery that Tessa wrote. I believe this is the first mystery book she wrote and she got it right. The only thing that I wish Tessa changed was the length of the book. This book was too good to be the length it was. I just wanted more of Myles and Taylor.

However, here comes the good news!

Tessa is said to be writing a sequel which has the main character a Panda Caretaker who is Taylor’s brother. That’s right. We’re getting a romance novel about a Panda Caretaker! I believe I know who the love interest is but because of spoilers I will not be mentioning who it is.

I am so excited about this next book. I mean a panda caretaker. How adorable is that! In fact it was one of my favorite parts of My Killer Vacation. Finding out that Jude, is a panda caretaker was a highlight!

Please please read this book! Just for the cute moments, the romance and the spice!

Book 3 // Night Embrace

I am currently on a book journey – one that is over 40 books long. Review for book 1 and the prequel is here. You can read along with me if you choose. I am reading book 3 which is Dance with the Devil.

ABOUT THE BOOK

An ancient Celtic warrior cursed by a god to bring death to any woman he loves, Talon, a seductive vampire, prowls the night, serving as a protector of the innocent, until in modern-day New Orleans, a runaway Mardi Gras float brings him face to face with the outrageous Sunshine Runningwolf.

Dear Reader,
Life is great for me. I have my chicory coffee, my warm beignets, and my best friend on the cell phone. Once the sun goes down, I am the baddest thing prowling the night: I command the elements, and I know no fear. For centuries, I’ve protected the innocent and watched over the mankind, making sure they are safe in a world where nothing is ever certain. All I want in return is a hot babe in a red dress, who wants nothing more from me than one night.

Instead, I get a runaway Mardi Gras float that tries to turn me into roadkill and a beautiful woman who saves my life but can’t remember where she put my pants. Flamboyant and extravagant, Sunshine Runningwolf should be the perfect woman for me. She wants nothing past tonight, no ties, no long-term commitments.
But every time I look at her, I start yearning for dreams that I buried centuries ago. With her unconventional ways and ability to baffle me, Sunshine is the one person I find myself needing. But for me to love her would mean her death. I am cursed never to know peace or happiness-not so long as my enemy waits in the night to destroy us both.

My Thoughts // ⭐⭐⭐⭐

I loved this book. Talon and Sunshine were great. I really really enjoyed this book so much! Talon and Sunshine were just *chef’s kiss*. This book had me reading until 3am. I loved how even though it is romance there was still plot and that there was character development.

However, I do wish there was a bit more feeling in this book. While the dynamics between the main couple were great, I just wish there was more. I also think there was too much sex in this book. Gasp! I know, can there truly be too much sex in a book. The answer is yes. At least for me. While the romance was so good. I wish there was more emotion.

I loved how Talon thought about how cute and endearing Sunshine’s clumsiness was. It was cute to read about. Overall this was a great read and I did not put it down until I was done with it.

I am loving this series and can not wait to keep reading!!

Dark Hunter Series

Reading the Entire Dark-Hunter/Hunter Legend Series // by Sherrilyn Kenyon

Night Pleasures // Book 1

I have decided to read this series – over 40 books. Yes, that’s a lot. Truly don’t know how long it is going to take but I’m going to try to read them all and blog about it. I have my first post here, where I reviewed the first book – or the prequel of the series Fantasy Lover.

I will be following the recommended reading order the author herself recommends if you want to read with me you are welcome to do so. I am going to try to read at least three books a month. Here we go, jumping right into it.

Here are some of my thoughts from the prequel.

Julian and Grace I loved and adored. Their relationship and their chemistry was everything and I loved them both so much. The chemistry between them was so hot and I just loved Julian. His character was well developed and I loved how he saw Grace and how much he cared for her. Same with Grace, I loved her character and how she interacted with Julian.

Now the scenes between Grace and Julian. Oh so hot. I loved the epilogue and I hope to see more of them in the rest of the series.

About the Book

Have you ever wanted to know what it’s like to be immortal? To journey through the night stalking the evil that preys on humans? To have unlimited wealth, unlimited power?

That is my existence, and it is dark and dangerous. I play hero to thousands, but am known to none. And I love every minute of it.

Or so I thought until one night when I woke up handcuffed to my worst nightmare: an accountant. She’s smart, sexy, witty, and wants nothing to do with the paranormal.

My attraction to Amanda Devereaux goes against everything I stand for. Not to mention the last time I fell in love it cost me not only my human life, but also my very soul. Now I find myself wanting to believe that love and loyalty do exist.

Even more disturbing, I find myself wondering if there’s any way a woman can love a man whose battle scars run deep, and whose heart was damaged by a betrayal so savage that he’s not sure it will ever beat again.

Kyrian of Thrace

My Thoughts /// ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Each book is on the short side – each book is a romance of individual couples with side characters and their relationships. Although this is technically the first book (I am reading in order, so for me it is book 2 per the reading order) it is nice to see the characters that we will soon read about throughout the series.

I really enjoyed this book. I think more so than the prequel. I love Kyrian’s character a whole lot and love how he progresses throughout the book. We meet Nick, someone we will see in all the other books who even has a series of his own.

This book was so much better than it’s prequel Fantasy Lover. Following Amanda and Kyrian, we get to meet other Dark-Hunters as we follow their romance. Amanda is lovable and Kyrian you fall in love with the moment he’s on the page.

Finding new characters to love throughout this series is even better. I wish this book was longer because at times it felt rushed. At times, if the book was longer it would have been better, pacing and character wise. It seemed rushed at the end.

So excited to go onto book 2 Night Embrace.

Addicted to You by Krista Ritchie & Becca Ritchie // Book Review

About the Book

No one would suspect shy Lily Calloway’s biggest secret. While everyone is dancing at college bars, Lily stays in the bathroom. To get laid. Her compulsion leads her to one-night stands, steamy hookups and events she shamefully regrets. The only person who knows her secret happens to have one of his own.

Loren Hale’s best friend is his bottle of bourbon. Lily comes at a close second. For three years, they’ve pretended to be in a real relationship, hiding their addictions from their families. They’ve mastered the art of concealing flasks and random guys that filter in and out of their apartment.

But as they sink beneath the weight of their addictions, they cling harder to their destructive relationship and wonder if a life together, for real, is better than a lie. Strangers and family begin to infiltrate their guarded lives, and with new challenges, they realize they may not just be addicted to alcohol and sex.

Their real vice may be each other.

My Thoughts // ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

There are no words to describe how fast I’ve become attached to these characters.

I am so in love with Lo and Lily, Connor and Ryke. I don’t think I’ll be able to not stop thinking about them, like ever.

While the writing isn’t epic and incredible. The characters feel like your best friends at the end of the book. You feel as if you know them and could be friends in real life rather than reading about them in a fictional book.

This fictional family brings you in and wraps you up in drama but also love. I don’t think that this series will ever be removed from my shelf.

It seems like 5 stars is not enough to give this book. I know this is only book one but I’ll say it right now.

I’m giving 500 stars to this series and I have only finished book 1.

If you were thinking of reading this. Do it.

Hook Line and Sinker

About the Book

King crab fisherman Fox Thornton has a reputation as a sexy, carefree flirt. Everyone knows he’s a guaranteed good time—in bed and out—and that’s exactly how he prefers it. Until he meets Hannah Bellinger. She’s immune to his charm and looks, but she seems to enjoy his… personality? And wants to be friends? Bizarre. But he likes her too much to risk a fling, so platonic pals it is.

Now, Hannah’s in town for work, crashing in Fox’s spare bedroom. She knows he’s a notorious ladies’ man, but they’re definitely just friends. In fact, she’s nursing a hopeless crush on a colleague and Fox is just the person to help with her lackluster love life. Armed with a few tips from Westport’s resident Casanova, Hannah sets out to catch her coworker’s eye… yet the more time she spends with Fox, the more she wants him instead. As the line between friendship and flirtation begins to blur, Hannah can’t deny she loves everything about Fox, but she refuses to be another notch on his bedpost.

Living with his best friend should have been easy. Except now she’s walking around in a towel, sleeping right across the hall, and Fox is fantasizing about waking up next to her for the rest of his life and… and… man overboard! He’s fallen for her, hook, line, and sinker. Helping her flirt with another guy is pure torture, but maybe if Fox can tackle his inner demons and show Hannah he’s all in, she’ll choose him instead?

My Thoughts

Rating: 5 out of 5.

A sequel to It Happened One Summer, Tessa writes an incredible sequel focusing around Hannah, Piper’s younger sister.

Tessa Bailey does it again.

I am obsessed with her books. No, really. I am.

Hannah and Fox made this book great. The spice and the characterization of both characters is amazing. You really feel like you’re in their world. Tessa Bailey can really write a romance that draws you in and makes you feel like you are living the romance with them.

Their romance was sweet and addicting and I couldn’t read this book fast enough yet I didn’t ever want it to be over with.

Tessa Bailey has quickly become an author that can write any book and I will pick it up and read it.

It Happened One Summer By Tessa Bailey // Book Review

About the Book

Piper Bellinger is fashionable, influential, and her reputation as a wild child means the paparazzi are constantly on her heels. When too much champagne and an out-of-control rooftop party lands Piper in the slammer, her stepfather decides enough is enough. So he cuts her off, and sends Piper and her sister to learn some responsibility running their late father’s dive bar… in Washington

Piper hasn’t even been in Westport for five minutes when she meets big, bearded sea captain Brendan, who thinks she won’t last a week outside of Beverly Hills. So what if Piper can’t do math, and the idea of sleeping in a shabby apartment with bunk beds gives her hives. How bad could it really be? She’s determined to show her stepfather—and the hot, grumpy local—that she’s more than a pretty face.

Except it’s a small town and everywhere she turns, she bumps into Brendan. The fun-loving socialite and the gruff fisherman are polar opposites, but there’s an undeniable attraction simmering between them. Piper doesn’t want any distractions, especially feelings for a man who sails off into the sunset for weeks at a time. Yet as she reconnects with her past and begins to feel at home in Westport, Piper starts to wonder if the cold, glamorous life she knew is what she truly wants. LA is calling her name, but Brendan—and this town full of memories—may have already caught her heart.

My Thoughts // ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Five glowing stars for this book! I read this and just kept reading and I could not put it down. Tessa Bailey gives you a fantastic romcom with a heartfelt story line.

Piper is a wild child roaming around Los Angeles throwing parties. Brendan is the opposite. Settled in a small town working as a fisherman, he is stable and fixed in his life, that is until Piper comes splashing through and catching his eye.

There is nothing I can say that is negative about this book. I absolutely loved it. It reminded me of summer romance and cute romantic adventures. I absolutely adored this book.

Piper and Brendan were just adorable together. Brendan sees Piper for who she is and accepts her with everything she comes with. A story about a woman finding herself and falling in love.

This book has turned into my first 5 star of the year. Pure joy and absolutely adorable read. If you enjoy romcoms then splash right into this book. It will not let you down!
